This home was first built in the early 1900s by the grandparents of Abdelali, the current owner. Back then, it was a private family residence, filled with life, tradition, and the quiet beauty of Amazigh simplicity and Fassi elegance. Over time, the family transformed their home into a traditional riad — a space to welcome, to gather, and to share culture with travelers from all walks of life.

What makes Riad Timrad unique is its dual identity: it stands as a symbol of cultural fusion. Abdelali’s family roots blend Amazigh authenticity with the refined heritage of Fès, and every corner of the riad reflects this harmony — from the hand-carved plaster and cedar wood to the geometric tiles and peaceful inner courtyard. The name Timrad carries a story of its own. In the Amazigh language, Timrad means “the nest of doves — a name inspired by the doves who made their homes in the patio walls during the earliest years of the house. They came naturally, without being invited, as if the space itself welcomed them. Their presence was seen as a symbol of peace and protection — something that still defines the soul of Riad Timrad today.
